This asymmetrical slab is approximately 3.5 inches by 3 inches and is 0.375 inches tall. It weighs approximately 149g. The top is polished, while the sides and bottom are rough. It was made from high grade schorl, which doesn’t flake and break the way that lower grade black tourmaline does. There are thin cracks all along. the surface, which are always present in carved and polished black tourmaline. These are not flaws, but are part of the natural formation of the crystals and make it possible to easily differentiate black tourmaline from other black stones. There is a little bit of iron oxide along one of the sides.
